Problem 3: Hardening and Cracking
Flexibility is one of the main advantages of LED strip and neon flex.
However, poor material selection can gradually turn a flexible product into a hard and brittle one. They will easily cracked after winter or cold weather use, or after a hot summer use.
Long-term exposure to UV, temperature cycling, chemicals, water, and mechanical stress can contribute to material degradation.
Once the outer material becomes brittle, several problems may follow:
Hardening → Micro-cracks → Water ingress → Internal corrosion → Lighting failure
This is why cracking and waterproof failure are often connected.
A waterproof solution cannot be evaluated only on the day the product is manufactured.
The material must maintain its mechanical properties throughout its intended service life.
